A New Year means new opportunities:
Each New Year is a very exciting time at MJHS. If you have not joined an activity, now is the time to do so. Swimming practice starts mid-February and Quiz Bowl practice will begin in March.
High School orientation for 8th grade students will be Thursday, February 3rd and the parent meeting will be the evening of Wed. Feb 2, 6:00-9:00 @ MHS Auditorium.. B.E.S.T. nights are planned for January 28th and early April. Being a part of an activity is a great way to get connected and meet new people. Come and join in on the fun.
Each month, MJHS will send home a newsletter like this. It will include the month's lunch menu as well as any activities happening at MJHS and/or in the Morrison School District that pertain to our students. Families are encouraged to keep these monthly newsletters in a convenient spot at home for easy reference. An on line version of the newsletter can be found on the school web page, www.morrisonschools.org. Click on "Junior High, then Junior High Home Page to link you to the newsletter. Remember, you can also see the Junior High Daily Assignments from our school web page, as well as your child's progress reports/grades. Please call the school if you have any questions.
Attendance is the key to school success:
Parents; it is not always easy to
determine when a child should stay home when they are not feeling
well. Our school nurse suggests the following guidelines. Parents;
please keep students at home if they have:
Fever of 100 degrees
and above
Norovirus
symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain, body aches,
headache, low grade fever (children & staff experiencing these
symptons should stay home until 24 hours after symptons have
stopped.
Strep Throat – may
return after 24 hours on antibiotic and 24 hours with no fever
Chickenpox – may
return when all lesions are dry
MEDICAL RELEASE
In the case of surgery, orthopedic injuries, and extended illnesses, a note is required from your student’s physician regarding activity for recess, required gym classes, and sports participation.
Please minimize family vacations during the school year or communicate with the school so that work can be provided in advance. The school will also be notifying parents when their child has missed more than ten days. I know that school attendance can be improved when the school and parents combine forces.
