EXPLORE Test
for Freshmen
EXPLORE, ACT's comprehensive assessment program for students in 8th and 9th grade, provides information about students' current
level of preparation in English, mathematics, reading, and science -
plus details about their interests, needs, and plans.
We hope parents will set aside some
time to review the EXPLORE results and review the results of the
interest inventory that will be returned in December or January.
The test results will help you determine if you are track
for your future plans and college readiness. By doing this,
you'll be helping your son or daughter
get off the best possible start toward high school and the future.
PLAN for Sophomores

Tests in English, math, reading and science reasoning
and measure the academic skills and abilities you've developed to this

kinds of career paths and occupations you might like.
Questions about you, your plans, your needs, and your
goals.
Information about educational in financial aid programs,
offered by colleges, scholarship and government agencies, and
professional associations through the PLAN Educational Opportunity
Service (EOS).

PSAE -
Prairie State Achievement Exam
The Illinois State Board of Education requires all juniors to take the
PSAE in April on two school days set by the ISBE. The ACT will be given
in its
entirety on the first day including a writing assessment. All
juniors are automatically signed
up for this test by their local school district. On the second day
students will take state developed tests in science, along with the
WorkKeys math and
reading tests. Students who choose to take the ACT on a Saturday
at a national test site must also take the ACT as the day one portion
of the PSAE.

ACT
Students planning on going to a four year college or university should
take this test for admission purposes. The best time is spring of
the Junior year, and the PSAE now provides this opportunity. (see
above) Students may register to take the test at http://actstudent.org. The
Guidance Office has registration packets and regularly posts test dates
for those students wishing to test in addition to the PSAE. The
ACT portion of the PSAE is not accepted for NCAA eligibility, ROTC
programs, or for
application to the Air Force Academy, West Point, and the Naval
Academy, so students must also take the ACT
at a national test site.
