RECORD OF MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

MORRISON COMMUNITY UNIT DISTRICT #6

January 29, 2008

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Morrison Community Unit District #6, County of Whiteside, State of Illinois, was duly called and held at 6:30 P.M. at Morrison High School in said district on January 29, 2008. On roll call, the following were present: Jim Prombo, Jim Ridley, Kevin Schlueter, Ted Tilton, and Sally Gray. Board Member Steve Swanstrom was absent. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Jody Ware, and High School Principal Janet Ward.

6:34 P.M.

Motion: Schlueter; Second: Prombo; To enter into closed session for the purpose of discussion of a student discipline matter. Ayes: five; Nays: none. Motion carried.

7:00 P.M.

Motion: Schlueter; Second; Prombo; To conclude the closed session and return to open session. Ayes: five; Nays: none. Motion carried.

Action from Closed Session

Motion: Schlueter; Second: Prombo; to expel Morrison High School student S2065-08 effective January 30, 2008, through April 10, 2008. The Board wishes to exercise their right through the Individuals with Disabilities Educational Act (IDEA) to place the student in an alternative education setting for 45 school days. Student S2065-08 could be eligible to return to school on April 11, 2008. Ayes: five; Nays: none. Motion carried.

Motion: Schlueter; Second: Prombo; To enter into closed session for the purpose of appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of an employee. Ayes: Prombo, Ridley, Schlueter, Tilton, Gray. Nays: none. Motion carried.

7:34 P.M.

Motion: Schlueter; Second: Prombo; to conclude the closed session and return to open session. Ayes: five; Nays: none. Motion carried.

President Sally Gray adjourned the meeting by consent at 7:36 P.M.
