RECORD OF MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

MORRISON COMMUNITY UNIT DISTRICT #6

April 4, 2006

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Morrison Community Unit District #6, County of Whiteside, State of Illinois, was duly called and held at 6:30 P.M. at Morrison High School Media Center in said district on April 4, 2006. On roll call, the following were present: Dave Boyles, Kent Forth, Kevin Schlueter, Joy Tegeler, and Steve Swanstrom. Board President Sally Gray was absent. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Jody Ware and Recording Secretary Wendy Krajnovich.

ACTION ITEMS

General Construction Bid Approval

Dr. Jody Ware reported that all bids were $200,000 or more than what was projected to the Board by Bradley and Bradley. The Board does not want to issue any new bonds, but use the available funds allotted to the project. Frank St. Angel of Bradley and Bradley had conversation with the low bidder asking for breakdown of costs, but since it was advertised as a general construction bid, the school district does not have the flexibility to accept or reject portions of the bid. Also the Board cannot alter the bid more than 10% of the construction project. Therefore, she said it is in the best interests of the school district to reject the bid. This will put a tremendous time constraint on completion of the project.

Motion to reject all General Construction bids.

Motion: Schlueter; Second: Swanstrom; Ayes – Schlueter, Swanstrom, Tegeler, Boyles, Forth; Nays – none. Motion carried.
