RECORD OF MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

MORRISON COMMUNITY UNIT DISTRICT #6

November 1, 2005

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Morrison Community Unit District #6, County of Whiteside, State of Illinois, was duly called and held at 5:00 P.M. at Morrison Junior High School in said district on November 1, 2005. On roll call, the following were present: Dave Boyles, Kent Forth, Kevin Schlueter, Ellen Smith, Joy Tegeler, and Sally Gray. Board Member Steve Swanstrom was absent. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Jody Ware, Junior High Principal Darryl Hogue, and Recording Board Secretary Wendy Krajnovich.

Board of Education Comments - none

5:00 P.M.

Motion: Forth; Second: Boyles; To enter into closed session for the purpose of discussion of a student discipline matter. Ayes – 6; Nays – none; motion carried.

5:30 P.M.

Motion: Tegeler; Second; Boyles; To conclude the closed session and return to open session. Ayes – 6; Nays – none; motion carried.

Action from Closed Session

Motion: Boyles; Second: Tegeler; To expel Junior High School Student #290721-06 for the remainder of the 2005-2006 school year, unless certain conditions are met. If these requirements are completed to the Board’s satisfaction, Student #290721-06 could be eligible to return to school at the beginning of the second semester on Tuesday, January 3, 2006.

The Board then went into a Strategic Planning session led by Dr. Jody Ware and facilitated by Lynn Feaver. In addition to the Board, the planning team included staff members, parents, community members, and high school students. This was the second of three meetings. The final meeting will be held on November 29^th.
