Clases de Español 2008-2009
What you need to bring to class Every Day:
*A notebook just for Spanish! This notebook will be checked periodically.
*A blue or black ink pen or a pencil- NO RED INK please
*Textbook and workbook (you may keep the workbook in my room-just tear out the pages needed for homework)
*All books and materials not pertinent to this class must be placed under your seat in the basket. I realize that with my new seating arrangement, space will be limited, but we’ll have to manage.
*Quizzes and tests: When these are being administered, everything must be under your seat (in the basket or on the floor). Anything on the floor (next to, not under your desk) might be misconstrued as an attempt at cheating**.
**Cheating: penalty will be as
follows-Parents or guardians will be contacted; student will receive a zero for
that test/quiz. An intangible
penalty will be that the student will lose the trust of the teacher.
*Absences: read up (in Enlightner) on your responsibilities as a student returning from an absence.
*Tardiness = Detention (the first time, not after three like some teachers allow).
*Be in your seat by the time the bell has rung.
*Your desk will be checked periodically to make sure nothing is written on it. You owe it to yourself to check your desk for any writing. If you see any, either erase it or tell me.
*Manners: Good manners are expected at all times (that includes language as well as behavior, which is explained at the bottom of this letter).
*Chewing gum: I will allow it as long as it does not get in the way of speaking Spanish!
*Eating candy or food*: not allowed. If other teachers allow it, that’s their prerogative.
Exception: food days (those days will be discussed in class).
*Water bottles: allowed as long as 1) the weather is hot 2) as long as you don’t abuse the privilege by messing around with the bottle and/or water
*Breaks: you will get a break approximately one half of the
way through the class. This is a privilege,
not a right. If you visit other classrooms
during one of my breaks, you will lose that privilege for the next two
classes. If that problem persists, you
will lose it for a more extensive period of time.
*Cell phones:
The Enlightner states
that “cell phones must be off, and out of sight”. I have storage pockets by the chalkboard in
which you may place your phone if you do not want to keep it in a pocket or have no pockets. I
will confiscate your phone if I see it out. You may pick it up in the office after
school.
*Detentions: These will be served at 7:30 A.M. in my room (with no detention slip filled out) and will end at 7:50. If you don’t show up, that morning detention will become a “normal” 45 minute after school detention (with a detention slip filled out).
*****You will be able to earn a ten-point daily grade in addition to any academic
grade. This 10-point daily grade is
based on: bringing all pertinent materials to class; being on time; cooperating
with me and other students; using proper language; being respectful towards
others.
